A general purpose relay switch is designed to function as a bridge on one or more connected devices or circuits receiving an input signal from one source and transmitting an on off set reset output to another.
Latching relay circuit with reset button.
An external switch initially turns the relay on then it is kept on by its own contact.
The diagram above shows how such a relay can be used to make a latching relay circuit the circuit has two buttons one is a push to make which closes when pressed but is otherwise open and the other is a push to break which opens when pressed but is otherwise closed.
These relays switch through a series of different circuit configurations every time they receive an input voltage.
To use this latching relay circuit just press the button connected to relay 1 and the load will stay on even if the button is released.
An electrically latched relay is a standard relay with one of its own contacts wired into its coil circuit.
Plc send a one shot pulse to activate the relay.
Use them to control motors pumps and lighting.
The input voltage latches them in position so they don t require a constant voltage to stay switched.
And provide a acknowledge reset button to stop the hooter.
Also in same time relay has to activate a hooter which is powered by 230v ac.
When the push to make button is pressed 12v goes across the coil energising the relay.
To stop just press the button connected to relay 2 and the load will turn off and stay off until you push the 1st button again.
Here i demonstrate a circuit which is a simple asynchronous sr latch using a relay.

This is achieved when an electromagnetic current generated by the electrical input from the first device attached to the relay causes the contacts in the switch to open or close.
The covered terminals prevent contact with live connections.
An external reset switch interrupts power to the relay which turns it off.
